Google Still Using PageRank After 18 Years Of History

It was about a year ago when Google removed the PageRank from its toolbar and all of the SEO world went into chaos (metrics-wise). However, while all were RIP-ing the public PR access, Google was known to still be using it on the back-end.

Gary Illyes from Google confirmed that they are still doing that in a recent tweet on his profile:

DYK that after 18 years we’re still using PageRank (and 100s of other signals) in ranking?

How does that help regular SEOs? Well, it really doesn’t but what you can get out of it is that you shouldn’t really be focusing that much on metrics. You should be focusing on high quality content and backlinks creation.
